It is amazing how quickly the weekends runs away with you. Did some more work on the x-wing, will post up some more photos during the week, just been putting together the main sections, then the plan is to spray a base coat before getting into some serious painting.
For now here is work in progress on the 40k marine, wil lbe a few months before I get back to working on this as I stumbled across a art competition (Retrogasm Art Competition) that I am going to have a go at. Taking a retro game and updating the character, my pick was Arthur from Ghost n Goblins.
So some new wips will be gracing this blog soon
So I scrapped part of the chest piece and integrated part of Dark Angel design into it, which works much better than just the eagle. Also playing around with some secondary decorations on the chest armor which I will scrap to re introduce some more warhammer-ish designs

Where has the time gone
Well it has been ages,, I have decided to break up some 3d work with a bit of good ol fashioned model kit and what better than a x-wing.
Will be taking photos of the progress, as a record of where I end up screwing the model up, haven't made one of these since I was a little kid :)
These Bandai kits have such amazing detail, pretty damn crazy, anyways photos of the new project

Oh yeah Happy New Year
Man I have been slack posting, I have a camera full of images still to process still and been mucking around on more 3d projects and enjoying the great summer.
Anyways I really want to have more finished art this year, so to start it of here is a unfinished piece :P
This was for a Darkstalkers comp on facebook 3d Anime challenge.
Was a good learning cure, getting a better character pipeline going, still got a few tweaks to sort out. Upgraded to Zbrush R7, still haven't had a chance to play with any of the new goodies, will have to se some time aside for that.

End is Nigh
Man almost the end of the year already, been pretty damn busy, good to be catching up on some personal work again.
Here is some images that I forgot to throw up here, just wips as usual. work is slowly progressing with the 40k guy, just been setting up shaders, looking forward to showing it off in the new year
1st one was some colour concepts for my bug alien, still got a couple more to do before rolling it out.
2nd is a update for the Cuthulu bust I was doing, changed his head since it was very generic

Just a quickie
Things are starting to get back to normal again, it has a been a pretty busy end of year, trying to get back into some of my person work again now.
Tonight was jumping back into texturing and setting up some test shaders. Trying to look dev a more illustration feel to the model, with play with this for a bit, hopefully if will work out. Not sure how well hair will go with this style but I guess that is all part of the experiment.
I find I keep painting out the brush strokes from over working it, this is a rough base which I will refine if this works out

TextureTesting
back on this guy again, just started to making some custom brushes for some acne scar textures, been using Jürgen Prochnow for skin reference, got a sudden feeling to watch Das Boot again, great film.

Winter is coming?
Well summer is over now, so I guess there will be a lot more 3d work being done in my free time. I picked up a camera towards the end of summer and have out making the most of it. Nice little Canon camera, really good to have one again after selling my first one to pay bills while I was studying.
Anyways taken a break from Mr Marine, and been just doing some zbrush sketches, here is one of the ones I have carried through. He is going to posed like those old civil war portrait paintings.
It has been a nice relaxing process just chilling out making something without trying to rush it.
The Mat cap material is from Kurt Papstein tutorial, it is really nice to sculpt with - def check it out
